This was on another site a few months ago. Did my head in too as I'm 40 and I've had a passion for music since I were young..... I use to see bands 3-4 nights a week when I was in Sydney, especially through the late 80s and early 90s. That's where a lot of my favourites are from. I couldnt do just 10...it ran over a bit. There's a few others that missed out by a milimetre too, but here goes. Ive added a Youtube clip where possible;

1. (didnt know what it was about at the time!!)

2.

3.

4. (the most influential band along with Minor Threat for me)

5. (originally done by Stiff Little Fingers, and I prefer the original, but the sound is terrible on YouTube!)

6.

7.

8. (still love ol' misery guts!)

9. (one of the first songs that got me into punk in
1980)

10.

11. The Melvins - June Bug

12.

13. One for my beloved Newcastle. Of course.

So many just missed out from Australian bands like The Saints, Meanies, Midnight Oil (pre '85) Tumbleweed, Screamfeeder to OS bands like Suicidals, GBH, Circle Jerks, Ramones.... and I could make a top 20 of Neil Diamond and Johnny Cash alone!

Can you list a definitive top 10 (or 13)?

Gee you went to so much trouble, think you could have at least picked a decent song ;)
Answer to your question, no I couldnt name a definitive top 10 mate..

Simple answer is no, other answer is CBF and couldnt link anything because it would likely be against site rules or not popular enough to have video clips. Also the best 10 songs of all time are likely to be created in the future, good music evolves and can be freely modified while being played.

1 john williamson- raining on the rock
2 NIN- happyness in slavery
3 jeff buckley-grace
4 Creedence Clearwater Revival-Fortunate Son
5 311-Beautiful Disaster

8 Johann Sebastian Bach-Toccata and Fugue in D minor
9 Sublime-Same in the End
10 Michael Franti- what i be/.jack johnson-Rodeo Clowns/ G love-Peace, Love, and Happiness
