What Bug is this, and is it good lizard tucker?

Hey all, i have a compost bin at the back with millions of these guys in it and i was wondering if they can be used as food for say Bluetongue's?

Its about 3cm long.

Is it a caterpillar? Some caterpillars can exude very nasty chemicals as a defence mechanism. I would not risk it unless you find out exactly what they are.

I think its one of those cream coloured catapillars that curl up and have a brown head..... you see them alot around the roots of dry garden plants.....

I think its meant to have a brown head attached to the right hand side
