I'm not of the belief that better laws will make any difference. Nor will increased funding, more staff or even technology.
The problem has been there since Christopher Columbus and is unlikely to improve, the decline can at best only be slowed.

As a nation we can't even stop adding to the cat problem so what chances have we got when it comes to dealing with disease?
Our politicians are too afraid to implement laws that will make a difference, people dont understand or don't care about the implications of their actions and the courts do little to act as a deterrent.
The planet is dying, the wildlife & fauna around us is all dying and all because of the human element.

The planet wont die until the sun uses up all it's hydrogen and becomes mostly helium and swells in size to have a diameter that will come very close to earth's orbit at which point the atmosphere will be driven off by the much stronger solar wind and oceans will boil off and be lost to space.
What is happening is A HUGE acceleration of species extinctions and climate change as a consequence of short sighted national and international politics / economics , greed and MOSTLY stupidity .
