Its Definately a Spotted or Blue Bellied Black Snake

In parts of their range they can be fairly common

Hope he wasn't hurt, the blue belly's I catch frequently around here fire up pretty quickly. Was it cool? They are a great snake and full of personality.

No not hurt just cold me thinks. He had a near miss from a car while we were watching him, and then he decided to travel up the middle of the road but eventually went off into the grass. We were on a little back road so not much traffic.
