Yeah, Golden Crowned Snake- non venomous, leave him be
http://www.livingharbour.net/reptiles/snakes_venomous05.htmThe Golden-crowned Snake is a small species of venomous snake that still occurs in leafy residential areas and bushland reserves in the northern shore suburbs of the harbour. It reaches a total length of around 50 cm, is brown in colour above and pink to red underneath, and has a distinctive pale band around the face. It is a nocturnal species and is often found sheltering under rocks, logs, and leaf litter during the day. Although venomous it is not considered to be dangerous, and even though it adopts a raised striking posture when alarmed it rarely attempts to bite.
