I got a call from a farmer today, he said i have a snake in a can ..in a bucket.
I got him to bring it to my house as he wasnt keen on paying for me to come to him.
I said, bring it to me and it wont cost you a cent.
He got to my place about 20 minutes later with his bucket.
In the bucket was this copperhead with it head in the can.
i took it out of the bucket and used a pair of strong scissors to widen the hole, it came out quite easily and seemed very relieved to be free and had a huge drink.
Ill put up some more pics of him tomorrow when i release him.

That's a Tinhead, not a Copperhead.

What type of herper do you think you are!?

:p

haha. Well, at least the snake had some taste--could have stuck its head in a bottle of vodka, afterall.

Now even the snakes are on the turps - what's the world coming to?!

The lure of a Jim Beam makes us all do silly things from time-to-time, including sticking our head in the can.

Could have been really embarrasing for him if he got caught with his head stuck in a VB can.

Good work ssssnakeman.

excellent work sssnakeman ;) looks like he enjoys his jim beam lol you probably interrupted a copperhead drinking binge

The first thing the farmer saw was the jimmy can bouncing around in his paddock.
He is an oddity in that he loves the snakes and knows how they are valuable to the environment.
He even asked me to release it back onto his farm and assured me that all snakes are safe there.

You seem to get all the interesting ones (eg: worm).
Is there room for more snakes on this dudes farm?

How's the snakes neck?

Good rescue Baz. The farmer also deserves some kudos for his efforts also. Looks like that poor snake would have been a goner if it wasn't for a bit of a team effort :D Good stuff!

nice job. Its good to hear about farmers like this. A lot seem to be changing their minds about snakes, up my way my mate is getting called out to farms to remove snakes the farmers have watched grow up, however they want the snakes removed because they are having children or grandchildren.

All I can think of is those cans of "peanuts" that spring out the foam snakes, this is the next step in pranking evolution..... you reach into the esky and....

Some pics of the release. Thanks to luke and ellen for taking these.
The farmer told us he stopped killing snakes 20 years ago when he looked out over his pumpkin patch and hundreds of rats were having a big party there.
He says since he stopped killing snakes the rat population is not an issue.
This 1st pic was taken by ellen and the rest were lukes work.
Ellen is my 13 year old daughter/photographer and luke is luke
