Hi all,

Just wanted to know which UV Tube you use and what is the best one to use for a baby beardie.

I currently use a ReptaSunPlus UV 10.0.

Would really appreciate some good feedback on this thread.

Thanks,

l use the NEC T10 Standard Black Light UV Tube, which are alot better for UVA, but they provide a letter bit of UVB, l have been using them on all my Reptile's since 1989, and they a alot cheaper to buy also.
lf you cannot get hold of them, PM me and l will let you know where in Melbourne Metro you can get them from cheap.

what your using jibba is great. Its what i use aswell, in conjunction with natural sunlight as much as possible.

alot of the cheaper uv's do not put out enough uv for our sun loving dragons. eg. the NEC 10. in conjunction with other lighting the NEC 10 could be used for some gex. but not desert dwellers. the out put is dismal compaired to the reptisun 10.0

So Kirby are you saying that the "ReptaSunPlus UV10" is good or are you saying the "ReptiSun 10" is good. Little confusing as too which one you are talking about.

Bah good eyes Dee4. i didnt even notice. it was 11:30+ rofl.
reptisun is good, reptasun is a cheap knock off.

From all accounts, jibba, the MegaRay is the best UV available for dragons. It's not in a tube, rather it screws into an ordinary ceramic Edison fitting.

What wattage are you using DailySkin?

My enclosure is 1200*600*600

Same size as my enclosure... I'm setting it up tonight and tomorrow (picking him up on Sat!!) but I think I'll try both the Self Ballasted 100 watt, and also try the 60 watt External Ballast, supplemented by a CHE.

OK so mine is no good, which is a Reptasun.

Where can I find a ReptiSun 10.0 UVB, is this produced by ZOOMED?

Thanks

We gave up on tubes along time ago, we only use mercury vapour globes, since changing we have noted a massive behavioural change in all animals and the best we ahve found so far is sunseeker 100W...also very cheap only $33!

Where can I find these? Online?? Also are they Edison Screw?

MegaRay are MVB (mercury vapour bulbs) - in Melb you can get them at Animal Attraction in Hopper's Crossing. In fact, I am on my way there RIGHT NOW!

Powersun uv 100-160watt and sunglo are also good MVBs, so is aussie sun from herpshop :)

We have truied megaray, aussiesun, ozbright, reptiglo, etc etc....the most reliable, the most effective and the best value for money is the sunseekers, we use them on goannas, dragons, frillies crocs and more....they are screw in and self balasted!

With my enclosure size 1200*600*600 is a 100W enough? Also, what should the distance be between my beardie and the globe?

100W is perfect for that size, provided there is plenty of ventilation as they cannot be run on a thermostat, have several large vents at the top of the enclosure to allow excessive heat to escape, have a few smaller vents along the bottom to draw in the fresh air...works a treat!

We have the globes at the top of the enclosure, the screw in fitting attached to the ceiling, unlike uv tubes the distance doesnt matter as much due to the amount of ÜV output and the other bonus is longer UV production life, we only change our globes every year now instead of every 3-4 months.
