Dusty - If it helps - I just use heat mats - have to in the cage (one of the floor and the other on the top shelf)

I am not a fan of the globes or ceramic ones either - I think it detracts from the enclosure and takes up unnecessary room
have had no problems with mats - one is on 24-7 the other is on a timer

ivon - are you going to fill in the sides with rock walls as well? Make it into a cave type enclosure?

I'd love to see the one for your coastal but i "don't do facebook"
.........a geek that doesn't do face book ...... i'm an endangered species:D

here we are for those that don't do facebook....

I was thinking of doing the wall partially on the sides with small ledges that lead to a basking platform ... Just waiting for a replacement door (terrible accident last night) to check the ambient temps while the Halogens are on....

Thank you Ivanovich, I have a 14mth old coastal and am trying to decide on an enclosure for when she out grows the current one, which at the rate shes growing will be very soon, and I've been scouring everywhere that i can for ideas and you've helped,

I have just about finished these, it's been a long time coming, had to put an extension on the house to fit them in!

The doors are sheets of perspex, you can't see them.

Also I might add that Cena's cost under $200 total and (iother than the replacement door) I'm on target to finish Carlito's for just under $100

Does the coastal travel between the top and bottom of the enclosure much?

Quite a bit actually... the heat gradient in that enclosure is top(hot) to bottom(cool) so it isn't that rare for me to find him resting on the lower perch. caught him drinking quite few times and all his poos are done on the bottom floor....

Tinky, I have to say your tanks are absolutely stunning! great work!

Hey all thank you for posting your photos but im sure there are more hahaha..

Wow they are nice. Tell me the first 1 is that bamboo/reed screening on the back? If so has the snake ever sh..ed on it? Curious as I have a mate who has bamboo on the back of his cages & in 7years he has never had them sh.. on it.

wow Lssah thats sik! im tryin to make one like that, would it be OK with a heat lamp instead of mats?
and people with upright tanks like that how do u heat them with a light? just one at the top with multi-level bask branches?
