As as semi-continuation of Pythonifinite's thread, I do believe the current situation involving the increasing use of the words "somethink", "anythink", and the one that makes me want to slap grown men in the mouth, "anyfink". My 6 year old picked this crap up playing with the neighborhood kids, it required holding back several courses of dessert to rectify the situation. It is fixed for now but I am worried it will rear it's ugly head again. That is something I "defiantly" cannot tolerate!

Please, discuss amongst yourselves.

and another one....

Did I hear Anna Bligh say 'arks' instead of 'ask' during a press conference a couple of days ago.....

I hope I mis-heard her.

That is one of my pet hates...:x

Some fink ,,, some don't fink....some don't have anything to fink with :)some don't even know they are finking

another one i had to pull my boys up for was "nuttin" rather than nothing ,,,, big pet hate of mine i sorted that one out well hehehehe

I would not be at all surprised, she is such a "tossa". Arggh! I hate that one too! The boy says something similar with "oks", ie: "Can I "oks" you something?"

Lol Sandee!

Finally someone has stepped up and spoken...

I haven't been game to say anything about this particular subject in-case I cop an infraction, but the amount of members on here that can't spell or use grammar correctly is so damn annoying.

Some posts take you a good couple of minutes to unscramble just so you can make some sort of sense out of it.

Other countries that read this forum must wonder if we even go to school anymore, it's b****y embarrasing.

Perhaps APS could introduce a Spelling/Grammer check on here that is compulsory before anyone can submit a thread or post? It might make members on here think about what they have just wrote or at least check it before hitting submit, worst case scenario...it will teach them how to SPELL!

Oh deer, wot hav eye started? My wife used to be a teacher (English as a special interest), and we were/are gobsmacked by the number of teachers who say somethink, anythink, youse, we seen, we done, etc etc, in the classroom... It's astonishing that they even get through uni to become teachers...

Oh well, I guess language is an evolving thing... not sure I like the way it's going though...

Youse ! ! aghhhh. irritating. 'I hope youse have a good day' *shakes head*

I'm glad i'm not the only one that gets annoyed at this sort of thing. i was starting to feel like an old fart.

I dread to imagine how their resumes will look in a few years

but i do bite my tongue most of the time... live and let live, in the long run its their problem to deal with, I just hope their teachers speak better than they do.

My pet hate is people using 'then' and 'than' in the wrong places. eg: "it's better then that" .. irritates me to no end.

Says it all.

Urban Dictionary :

3. somethink

(Australian) Something. Used by bogans. Sign of Mental deficiency.
"youse wanna go down the street or somethink"

I like to think that parents would pull their kids up for saying words wrongly and to speak correctly. I wish that was done for me, I have tried to improve my speaking voice, but still sound a bit rough around the edges at times :lol::lol:

They were so anal about manners at the table and saying thank you etc.

My 9 yo says "brang" all the time. It's driving me nuts. As he's telling me about his day, I find myself correcting him all the time "brought", "he brought it to school". The latest word at the moment is "gaybo". "Oh he's such a gaybo, he didn't even know what 2x7 was". That one cracks me up, it's just such a stupid word. I'm sure I have many years of this joy to come yet.

I actually feel sorry for all the txtspeakers and such, can you imagine what will happen when the time comes to submit a resume? And if I come across a post which is so garbled and poorly spelled/written that it is virtually unintelligible, I take note of the name of the poster and lump them in with the 'know nothings' - after all, would you take advice from someone who cannot take the time to write a comprehensible post?

The problem is Colin, nobody uses it.
