Have to toddle off to uni soon but absolutely HAD to post what happened this morning. Probably not of interest to those who have experienced it 20 000000000 times on this forum, but my snake shed last night! His first shed with me and my first shed with any snake, I got up thismorning and found his perfectly shed skin wrapped around his fake vine/plant/thing. Funny as I’d gone to all the effort of getting him a bunch of different rough textured rocks to help shed haha. I’d like to think he used them at some point :p.

He is looking the most vibrant I have ever seen him, so so shiny with bright yellow/orange and fluro yellow around his face and belly just like his mother (can’t ever seem to capture it as it is actually fluro like a highlighter marker). He is so active (little squirmy wriggly thing made it hard to get pics) which is great fun to handle him, he was so mopey as he was coming into shed, but such a good boy never getting cranky at me for getting him out.

Anyway here are some pics of the skin and the snake, I hope you can see how gorgeous his yellow is looking, so vibrant and deep! I hope he turns out a high yellow as he matures. I also love his crazy pattern! Seems a little different to the usual stripes out there, but I’m not that experienced so not sure if it’s normal.
Cheers :D

Now just have to find what to do with the skin!

That is a really nice looking pattern much different to my little ones pattern. Should make an interesting adult!

I keep any full shed that I have. Hope to compare their length one day. Fantastic snake and great pics :D

It never ceases to amaze me when they shed, its soooo amazing to watch. and needing rough surfaces to shed is one of those myths that just keeps going around, if rough surfaces are available, they may or maynot use them, my big coastal will often lay her upper body on the ''roll'' of skin and slither out from there......

I always use to keep the shed skin, now I have their first and i'll keep their last one near their tank, just to freak visitors out when they dont beleive that the thing that is curled up in the corner is actually 2.4m long (the shed is longer so it just adds to the horror on their face :)

I hate seeing all these beautiful bananas...... i might have to surrender this year and add one to the growing collection.

Lots of albino pics:D should look good when fully coloured up its a facinating thing if you can watch a snake sheeding though most times we just find there discarded sheds in the morning well you will see plenty of shed seeing as it occurs every 4-6 weeks I just throw mine in the bin there not an accurate measurment of the snakes lenght because for a snake to shed skin it needs to stretch

OMG he is beautiful.totally.i keep my sheds so as to be able to measure the growth.my jungle shed a month ago and her new shed is 2 and a half inches longer that her last.she be growing.....keep the skins to see him grow.never ceases to amaze me too.

The pattern is sort of like the Burmese Python pattern lol Beautiful Darwin none the less. :)

thankyou I hope his pattern keeps going the way it is going to adulthood :D

very nice snake.. cant wait to get one. misses thinks they look like play dough when there young hahaha :D

Haha they do look a little odd as little bubs. I think I got mine just as he was surpassing his 'pink worm' stage and was starting to show yellows. lucky me!

I definately wont be throwing this shed or any sheds out! Really special considering it's his first and my first too :D

Thankyou :D

Ah good to know he doesn't need it! He seemed to have wrapped himself all through his fake plant and just slithered out. so glad it was an easy shed :D

Gotta love pics! haha. I can't wait till I catch him shedding for the first time. another exiting first.

Most definately will be keeping his skin! He seems to be growing, at least the people who are horrified at how fast he is growing (parents and friends of parents) tell me. He just keeps getting more and more beautiful as he grows :D

If you lay the shed care fully on clear contact - or on cardboard then clear contact it over - the shed won't be accidentally destroyed. The you can stick them to the wall lol

I wish he was a burmese! One of my favourite snakes haha. He can be my little burmese. All the beauty without the food bill to match!

That's a great pattern on him! How old is he?

He will be one in november :D.

That's a really good idea! I might do that and put it in a frame :D
