hey i have had my snake for 6 months and it has only shed once should i be concerned

Hi Tszue.

What species is it?
What size is it?
How old is it?
What's it eating?
How regularly is it eating?

Cheers,
Aaron.

my snake is a coastel carpet
45cm long
7 months old
it's eating rat pinkis
once a week

maybe its time to try a larger prey item? maybe a fuzzy rat?

jim

ok i will do that but should i still feed her once a week or once every 2 weeks

my 2yr old coatsal carpet just shed 2 days ago i had her for bout 7months and she finally shed, mayb i need to feed more often

At 7 months of age it should be shedding anything from 4 to 7 weeks apart. They can certainly shed more often, I have a blond Mac that shed twice in 3 weeks. I would certainly increase it's food intake. A 7 month old Coastal should be eating more than rat pinkies.

There food should be upto 3 time the size of your snakes head. My 20 month coastals are on large rats, think big they can dislocate there jaws and take down larger prey than you might think.
