A friend had a mouse with a big lump on its side and wanted to know if i wanted it to feed a snake i said no because i wasnt sure if the problem would be past to the snake . Does anyone know if a mouse with a tuma or abcess can be fed to a snake safely ?

cheers nico

Mice are extremely prone to tumours, particularly older animals. Technically speaking if it is neoplasia/a tumour then it shouldn't affect the snake, however if it is an abscess don't feed it- it will be full of necrotic/dead material, cytokines (little molecules that trigger inflammation) and bacteria. Personally, if it were me, I wouldn't feed the mouse either way- Mice are cheap, for piece of mind I'd rather get a different mouse.

Thanks , i didnt think it was safe so if any of my mice get them i will just gas them and bin them .

cheers nico
