I have just aquired some footage that was taken by my brother Ron (rip) of my other brother Graham(rip).
When Graham worked at the zoo in Adelaide my brother Ron and his family came to visit us and we gave them the grand tour of Adelaide Zoo.
This footage is of the big cat tunnel that ran behind the cages.
There is more to come..

Baz, this is amazing footage you have been given! this was taken a year before i was born, i have a love of big cats and they are amazing creatures. thank you so much for sharing this with the APS gang! i use to volunteer at the zoo with the big cats

You can hear me in the backgroung snickering sometimes,
I was 23 when they visited us in Adelaide and Ron hired a video camera form the zoo shop,
and it was a state of the art, you beaut, camera to. (for 1986)

We were making sure the kids didnt put their hands near the cages, lol.
Here is some more film from the same day.

The otters there now do the same thing....but louder and more frequent...Mind you they are fairly old... (one of them at least) could it be the same otter?

great vids, Baz :) Thanks for sharing

probably a stupid question, but are any of those big cats still alive today? they're gorgeous :D very lucky to have that sort of access :)

and that koala is a big bugger.

I doubt the animals are still allive 25 years later but they might be,
they would be retired from the public gallery though,
The black jaguars are not there anymore, or I didnt see them last year when i was there.

Here is some more footage from the same day,
Sandy was carrying a baton down her gumboot for protection
because these guys have huge teeth and
sometimes get a bit carried away with the moment..

Cool videos.... unfortunately the Adelaide Zoo really hasn't improved much (it has changed but not really improved)... when compared to the other Australian Zoo's it's a major disappointment.
