Do I understand this properly? Only about 100 people died by snake bite in Australia since the stats are kept?

? Incidences of Snake Bites: Globally, snakebite is common in the rural tropics. The most recent estimates published through the WHO suggest there at least 2.5 million cases and 125,000 deaths every year. Compared with this global onslaught, Australian snakebite statistics seem almost trivial. The commonly quoted figures are 500-3000 cases a year, with 2-8 deaths.
