I think people kind of came to conclusions pretty quickly without knowing all the facts, as tends to happen a lot. I think it's worth finding out the whole story before accusing anyone of anything...

On another note, I hope your beardie is ok.

I'm not trying to insult you here but just because you can't drive to a reptile vet doesn't mean you can't phone one or other vets to ask if they have come accross this situation before.

Best of luck, i hope he recovers to his old self

Hey Putchi!

Sorry to hear of your little fella's plight - hopefully he's now on the improve!

I'm from Mount Gambier SA, and there is only one vet here I take my animals to - so, for future reference, Black's Veterinary Clinic on Commercial Street East, you will find a lady there who is REALLY good with herps (and what she doesn't know, she contacts her "mentor" in NT!).

Also, for what it's worth, I only recently (March) had my 11 year old beardie put to sleep - who was also hand-fed everything, I might add!

Anyway, all the best with all your animals! If you're ever down this way, let me know!

Best,
Carolyn

Alot of people buy a $40 beardie and when something goes a bit wrong with it, they simply toss it and then post a thread asking if anyone has any hatchies availiable. So its understandable when a thread like this pops up that people jump to conclusions. Reptiles are a fad to alot of people, and like most fads, they become old news, so why take it to a vet when the mere consultation fee costs more than just buying a new one?
It souded like you were another one of those people avoiding taking a animal to the vet cos theyre just not worth that much to you. Perhaps not, but we are bound to make that assumption. And wont be the last time we jump to conclusions when it happens so frequently.

putchi just ignore any snide people on here, we aren't all like that but it's not secret what some people are like. It makes the site look bad and puts people off asking for help for fear of being attacked.
I've said it before I'll say it again- being nasty is not a way to get information across, your advice is more likely to sink in if you say it a bit nicer. Go have a whinge to your mamma about it all you want and get it off your chest, but being nasty to someone who needs help, whether you think they are 'stupid' or not, is never going to work.

I do hope your critter is okay, if you can contact someone for a bit of advice then it would be great. If he's still around tomorrow morning try and contact a reptile breeder of vet who specialises in reptiles and perhaps they can give you some advice as to what to do or what it may be, even if you can't get him there. I'm sure that would have been a really horrible thing to witness!

and i think its good if the person who is asking a question puts as much info down as they can , like a location . ? il jump to conclusions every time when someone says my beardie brought blood up and if its not better in a few days ill kill it " euthanise it " isnt that a little extreme ?
didnt say cant get to a vet, nearest vet is 350kms away or anything ........
either way going around and around in circles isnt going to do a thing .
as long as the beardie is ok thats all that matters .

Yeh I agree, it's much better to give all of the information in the opening post than to miss out on those details and have people start assuming things, like he doesn't care about his animals and stuff like that... However from the opening post, it did seem that way I must admit.

Putting this aside, how is the beardie doing?
