Beardie is getting really dark...

Hey guys, I was just wondering, my bearded dragon is getting really dark on his "beard", and generally all over it's body...
So I guess, my question is, is this a usual thing? Why is this happening... I'm sorry I can't give you what type of breed it is, as I bought it when I was 9 and I've misplaced the record book... :/

I don't have much experience with beardies, but could it be that he's trying to impress the ladies with his magnificent beard?
