Hi there

My diamond is obviously cooling down and is basically hibernating, however comes out of her box frequently and sits near her light as if to say turn the freaking light on! DUring hibernation, should I have the light on at all???

this might be naive but whats the difference between brumating and hibernating?

At this time of year I give my diamonds about 3 hrs of heat in the morning so they can come out & bask & raise their body temp for the day. Great Diamond article in the recent Reptiles Australia mag, you should check it out.

Oh, and brumation is what reptiles do (slow down in the colder weather), hibernation is what mammals do.

I have learnt something then...I always thought reptiles hibernat!!! But Brumation does make more sense!!! As we know you can get warm does in winter and out they come where I guess grissley bears etc... hibernat in that they dont come out for all of winter (or whatever time of year)
