I was looking for some advice on the wood im using at my school in woodwork.

For my job im making a 3ft by 2ft enclosure. I was wondering if when i coat the job what can i use, the school supplys basic seethrough laquer and most varnishes ??
(i dont want anything that will harm the reptiles)

Also im using a sliding front door, and im not sure if to make it out of perspex or see if they can get ahold of some scrap glass.

all help would be appreciated.

Photos should be uploaded sometime soon

It won't matter what timber you use inside it , it should all be thoroughly sealed with an appropriate sealer like CFP polyurethane or pondtite ( which is a lot cheaper)

clear waterbased polyeurethane is fine to seal the timber
perspex is ok on small spots 3ftx2ft may be too big unless its thick. test it if you hold both ends and there is little or no flex its ok
dragons are ok a small- med snake will push its way out with just a few mil flex and they test thier way around all the time
