Hi All,
Last weekend (cup weekend), Kristy and myself went up to Benalla to my uncle's farm.
As Red Bellied Black Snakes are Kristy's favorite Elapidae and she had never seen a wild one.
I realy wanted to find one for her.
We herped around the farm for a while with no luck, although we did find a few critters.

On the way home, we dropped into one of my fishing spots along the King Parrot Creek.
As It was now a mission to find a RBBS and Ive seen them there often. It took about 15 minutes to find a stunner.

Pics from around the farm.
1st 3 pics Hemiregis decresiensis (correct me if Im wrong)
4th pic, Jacky Lizard (very quick up the tree)
5th pic, A furry thing.

The lizard was around 25 to 30 cms total lenght.
It was pretty quick up the tree and that was the best pic I got of it.
Im not to sure that there is anything else it could be in central Vic.
Although I could be wrong.

Good pictures Andyscott,im glad Kristy got to see a Red Belly, what size was it....

It was around 4.5 to 5 foot, not huge.
Very placid and relaxed on the snake hook, I hooked it to move it to a clearing for the pics.
Once I put it back on the ground, thats when it hooded up.

Nice RBB, i once took my partner to my dads property for a look, and as i opened the gate to enter it was like a welcome home, strait away i saw a large adult red bellied black snake in long green grass with its head up tasting the air. Its so rewarding when you come accross some thing so awsome. I was actually saying to my partner on the way that hopfully we will come accross one, and walla there it was. it was so large it left a trail of flatten grass into thick bitty bush.
cheers steve.
