I found a Lychas sp scorpion locally. At first speaking to mark newton he thought it may be Lychas spinatus which is lumped in with Lychas variatus. After sending him a few specimens he thought it was Lychas marmoreus which is commonly known as the marbled scorpion which is a very widespread common species. He had only examined live specimens when he decided on Lychas marmoreus. He killed 2 specimens so he could properly examine them and it turns out they are actually Lychas papuanis which was also lumped in the variatus complex. Quite a good find.
