Is it ok for my mertens to sleep in the water sometimes at night when his lights are off?

yea thats the thing im scared of.... i made a thread once before asking how long they can stay under for because he seems too for quite a while sometimes

Its a perfectly normal behavior for some semi-aquatic lizards to sleep in water
so i doubt its going to drown...

lol i thought it was normal but i get scared everymorning when i see him in there i think that when i go to pick him up he will be al stiff and dead :(
but nah he just flicks his tail and runs around the enclosure

The Mertens are water monitors aren't they? So probably normal for them to spend more time in the water than most other monitors.

if mine slept out of the water i would have worried...............These guys will sleep and walk like godzilla through the water......mine rarely slept out of the water. Occasionally he would be on branch but some nights, it would be clinging to an underwater log fully submerged and out for the count. fabulous animals. don't worry about it :)
