Mites on GWD?

Hi all we purchased a 2yr old Gippsland Water Dragon on Monday and all seemed fine. But today she is really irritated by something, scratching around her head and sort of dragging her body along the ground. I cant see any mites on her, and im hoping it is'nt, but im not sure how small they start off. She is on red desert sand, which I personally didn't want because of the possible risk of impaction, but could it be the sand? This is the first Water Dragon we have owned so im a little worried. Any help would be great!!

Can't be of much help but...

They do get scratchy when their starting to shed.

Also she's 2 yrs old so I don't think impaction would be likey to occur

Altho I never kept my water dragons on sand so...

ok thanks for the quick reply, feel a little stupid now because i think she actually may be starting to shed. Anyway feel better for that.
