hi guys,

I intend to make a new tank for our school python. He's a spotted (sold as a Children's) and he's still growing at 1.4m.

The intention is to make the tank:
1800 tall x 1000 wide and 600 deep

Would this be ok for him? Will have a basking lamp and ceramic bulb.

Thanks,
Phil

Unffortunatly, spotted pythons are ground dwellers and 1800 tall will be a waste of unused space. I've had mine in enclosures before where i had a few tiers of climbing branches and they dont go higher then the first one.
Im currently running a heat matt for my spotted python and it seems to be ideal, With a hide or some plants covering the heated area. I've never used a basking lamp or bulb for a spotted/childrens or stimson so i can't give you any advice in that department sorry. I run a UV light to light up the enclosure but that is purely for aesthetics.

The enclosure would be perfect if thats what your heart is set on building but it would be just as good with a quater of that height, Maybe split the enclousre into two and buy another one :p
600 deep is also very generous but that won't go unused, good luck with the build and i hope this helped

Why does he need a tank? Is he in the military? Just build a wooden enclosure (vivarium or terrarium).
