If the remarks attributed to Chad in the media are accurate, he sounds remarkably stoic about the whole thing. I'd image it will take awhile for the totality of the loss to sink in though.
If I had a fire, couldn't care less about the materialistic things, but to have your beloved animals all perish. Don't think I would ever recover. So that is why I am thinking of the poor owners and how they have to deal with this.
LEts all hope that it was at least a swift painless death to a majority, unlikely, but we can always hope. Not only has he lost beloved animals, but they were obviously this persons lively hood, and considering the economy over there I hope they recover from this ok.
Those poor reptiles , the terror they must experienced being trapped with no way of escaping from their enclosures and the agony they experienced while being burnt alive....
Wouldn't most succumb to inhaling fumes before the flames got them?
Someone mentioned an electrical fault caused this. Has that been verified ? I hope this wasn't arson.
The fire started next door and had nothing to do with heat lamps, heat pads, faulty or home done wiring
Testing and tagging may find a faulty appliance. They are simply testing the insulation resistance of an appliance, the earthing etc and making sure that it is safe to use and that you wont get an electric shock. They don't find hot spots in bad DIY wiring, hot spots created from plugs that are not plugged in correctly (hanging out a bit) etc etc. We used to get a thermal imaging specialist in to check our electrical work out for hotspots. He has a special camera that see's the hotspots in electrical joins, appliances, switchboards, circuit breakers/fuses and so on. But anyway, test and tag is an OH&S thing brought in to protect people form electric shocks.
This story is very sad for the snakes and owners
