ok a mate wants info on these fellas......hes 14 and had herps for a round 3 years.

Are these suitable for a first monitor?
What enclosure size would best house one?
are they easy to keep..feed...etc.??

MrBredli: that's an old outdated care sheet, it's basically a brief version of an old article I wrote (you're still most welcome to view it and I'm happy to email a copy to anyone interested). The article MrSpike is talking about is a new one in the latest edition of Reptiles Australia, which is much more comprehensive.
 
One very notable and important aspect of their behaviour is the use of the basking spot, even at temperatures exceeding 750C. Temperatures this high are not considered to be necessary, a basking site temperature of 450C is probably sufficient, but given the alternative the goannas will choose a higher temperature and so it is provided.

Wow thats a bit hot isnt it :lol:
