I think this is reptile related enough to put here, didn't seem to go in just chit chat.
Occasionally I get pricelists emailed to me from Africa. . I would never try to
buy from an unsolicited African pricelist, there is little to no chance you would get
anything, they are almost always a ripoff. The prices on the lists are generally
"too good to be true", this one was was pretty high. Also they say a scorpion is
Bufo alvarius -- the rare Colorado River Toad scorpion?
Usually I just delete them, this time I replied to. Today the sender sent the message
that's second down. I think it's very funny!

Haha I think your prignant???
I cant believe those prices though, can you actually buy animals from Africa and import them into the USA?

No.. you send them money and postage costs, they send you nothing. You lose.

No.. you send them money and postage costs, they send you nothing. You lose.

Yeah I know thats the deal in this case as it is unsolicited. What I meant was can americans buy animals from overseas if they know exactly where the animal is coming from, say a friend in africa is selling a rock python and they buy it can they import it into the USA no worries?

say a friend in africa is selling a rock python and they buy it can they import it into the USA no worries?

Are you serious? I would be mighty worried if I knew that someone was sending me a rock python!:lol::lol:
Yes individuals can import reptiles legally, so send me all the death adders you can find.
kidding kidding kidding kidding kidding kidding kidding kidding kidding kidding kidding kidding
To import you need to have a permit. There isn't any reptile knowledge involved in getting one.
More of a criminal background check and paying the fee. Then the animals have to come to
a airport with a Fish & Wildlife officer. There aren't that many like that, only three on the east coast
I believe.

hmmmmmm wonder if i could get an african rock python and just say its a large coastal hehehehe

and dam i wish we could get those rare daddy long leg spiders into the country hmmmmm lol

Was just an example and the first thing that came to mind.
Thanks for answering my question.

re Reptile

Good to deal with the old shibani,i recommend him for his quality spitting cobras and boomslangs, hes my cousin :)

Looks like a totally legitimate price list from Tanzania to me.

Please understand that many countries around the world freely trade in wildlife under regulation.

Because the persons English is not the best, due it NOT being his native tounge, is that reason to ridicule him ??? How is your Swahili ???

Maybe he was offended by the reply email which is quite understandable. It was not written in a clear professional manner. The Tanzanian sender sent it possibly in the hopes of reaching customers, if one is not interested a kindly reply on no interest is all that is needed.

Maybe the person replying is confusing Varanus albigularis with Varanus exanthematicus in regards to retail pricing n the USA ???

There are always two sides to a coin !!!!

The yahoo address may sound strange to you, but the reality is that the vast majority of Africans only have access to the net via cyber cafes, so a yahoo address is actually the norm :)
