I'm getting a Galah soon, and when I graduate high school I plan to move to Cairns or Townsville to study Tropical and Marine Biology at JCU. My question is, what are the legalities and/or mental/physical repercussions of sending a bird 2800kms?
So basically what I'm asking is, is it legal to send a bird interstate, if it is do you need an import/export licence, and would there be any adverse effects to the bird?

It's legal and no permit is required for a galah in Queensland. No adverse affects on the bird if you train it to be used to being in it's travel crate (Medium sized pet carrier). I've been travelling with my birds all around Aus for the past 20years with no problems :)
