Hi.
These little guys come from the gawler region, we were doing a big clean up as fire danger is getting worse and came across these little guys.

The land owner insisted i take them, as she didn't want them, around "inviting snakes" and was going to destroy them if i didn't, so i had no choice really;)

I'm not sure if the are juvies or just a small skink.

One of them has lost his tail but is regenerating it like a gecko.

I was thinking possibly they were dwarf skinks, Menetia greyii , but the have too many digits on the front hands for this. They have 5 digits per hand/foot.
Oher ideas on identification were Lampropholis guichenoti and Lerista bougainvilli

Any ideas would be helpfull

G'dat tadpoles,

It is Lampropholis guichenoti. They get to a total length of around 10cm.

All Australian native reptiles are protected.

Cheers

They look like Lampropholis guichenoti to me, very common but still a proctected species.

They are on the SA exempt reptiles list.

Can anyone in SA clarify the rules with exempt reptiles for me?
cause i'm a little confused:?

Do many species of skinks regrow lost tails?

G'day tadpoles,

They may be on the exempt list, but I'm not sure if that means you can take them from the wild? Give NPWS a call, ask for Sonya or Hannah and they will sort you out with the info.

Cheers
