spiders!

just had a friend tell me that he found a Mexican tarantula in his room.... and it was 'tame'... later he found out it was his neighbors and gave it back....
sooo yeah I have a few questions
1) Can you have exotic insect/arachnid species in Australia?
2) Can spiders be tame?
3) If so can a bird eating spider be tame?

So yeah

You'd need to supply a photo of the actual spider to be sure....and,
Q1: NO
Q2: Yes and No
Q3: Yes and No

i looked into trying to get a permit/ licence to import a goliath birdeateing spider from the states, 15 phonecalls about 3hours of on hold music and finally talking to someone in canberra in the dep of fauna or something like that cant remember.... to be told a BIG NO!!. wasnt too happy. big big fines and even jail time can apply, the same as exotic reps. hope your friends naighbour is aware of this.

you cant train, they have a very simple nervous system, they can upgrade and drowngrade threats but thats about it.
