i use reptile sand from the pet shop or if i can't get any them play sand washed and never had eye or ear problems with any of my beardies.

i do use bark with my eastern beardies only as its more natural for them also have not had a problem with it yet. but i do worry about them swollowing some accidentally wen eating.

I used to use the red dessert sand but now use play sand from bunnings... The red dessert sand stained the underside & feet of my Dragon but lifted off with his shed (no staining with the white play sand
