Are you interested in animal welfare and conservation? Exotic travel? Cultural experiences, and wanting to make a difference? If so then help ENRICH in North Sulawesi, Indonesia
Tasikoki Wildlife Rescue Centre is home to a number of threatened species of mammals, birds, and reptiles. Most were confiscated from smugglers attempting to export them for illegal pet trade. As a result, orang-utans, gibbons, sun bear, and the critically endangered Jarvan leopard and Celebes crested macaques are among the species awaiting release at the rescue centre. Near-by, just an hours boat ride from the centre is Lalumpe Beach. A tropical 3km stretch of golden sand and calm waters, where 5 of the 7 species of sea turtles come to nest throughout the year.
In July 2011, ENRICH are again running a two week program to both locations. Stay for 8 nights at the rescue centre assisting with animal husbandry, enclosure construction and valuable behavioural enrichment. Spend another 5 nights at Lalumpe beach doing nightly patrols searching for turtles, assisting with nest relocations, release of hatchlings, dune care, and ongoing project development.
