weird chatroom problem!

Dont know if anyone else has this, and i dont know if it makes a difference due to what type of keyboard used (english/american), but if i go into the chatroom my keyboard settings change (just for that room)
I.E.....normally if i press shift & 2 i would get " but in the chatroom i get @ ????
& obviously vise versa....pressing shift & ' id get @ but instead i get " ???
When typing this & any other thread everythings the right way around ! :?:?

its no biggy...but a tad confusing....any ideas as to why ?

I went into the chat room for the first time last night, and discovered some wierdness myself.

I have a dual language keyboard, english-icelandic, so I don't have to bother with character mapping and all that nonsense. In the chat room here, my icelandic letters seem to have been remapped, some are missing entirely, and one now produces a vowel that's not in english OR icelandic.

'Twas most confusing.
