after a very long time im finally on the forum
theres so many herp peeps out there ive come to know over the years especialy in AUS herp society and the Hawksbury herps society
and on the forum
dropin in to say WA SUP!
ALL MY LIFE IVE BEEN FACINATED BY REPTILES,
from the moment i could walk and talk reptiles where on the agenda.
at around the age of 5 after showing much intrest ,my auntie and uncle caught
me my first herp a juvinile bearded dragon, and a few months later
another auntie (RIP God bless her)who was petrified of reptiles caught an adult blue tongue which had wandered
into her dog enclosure, and actully wet her pants in the process such was her anxiety.
so i was the proud owner of 2 reptiles ,unfortunantly the beardie died a few months later,
but the bluey lived another amazing 24 years in captivety before passing only a couple
of years ago.
i would often take my blue tongue in a bird cage to primary school for show and tell
along the way at around 10 or 11 years old i picked up another bluey ,which i found in a pile of flotsam and jetsum washed up on a lakes shore after a large storm,i first thought it was dead but i picked it up and it hissed LOL.
i still have that lizard making it over 22 years as a pet.
i caught many other reptiles as a child but released them soon after capture.
when ever i traveld far from home i would usually turn to looking round for what reptiles i
could spot with some adventures with some adventures in TAS and later a trip to the USA in florida where i came randomly came across tortousises, snakes and lizards
i was never allowed snakes at home and it was only as an adult living away from home
able to keep snakes finally.
the snakes i have kept have all been the most wonderful snakes you could ask for all with there own personalities,
and whenever ive had a reptile die or forced to euthanase, ive greived for them
terribly as if id lost a child,
i couldnt of asked for a better bunch .
Always ive been excited over encounters with elapids, and have came across many species
over the years, and have received calls from freinds and freinds of freinds to come move a rouge snake from a very frightened property owners land.
I dont think ill ever loose my passion and excitement herps have given me
other passions of mine over the years has been competiton paintball, motorcycles(racing, social riding ,stunting) reading ,military history, outdoor activities
these days practicing stunts on roadbikes is a major intrest of mine
