Thick Tailed Gecko Temp Change

Hey i recently got a thick tailed gecko in the summer and now with the cooler temps i have got a heat mat simply because he started to eat less and i was getting worried but i just have a question should lower it from 26 degrees and cool or do leave it a 26.
any replies will be appreciated

Are you planning on breeding?
If not there is no need to lower temps.
