Yesterday the black Chinchilla-pair got a new baby. :)

The father is a "Homozygous Ebony" and the mother a "Heterozygous Ebony" colour morph.

I was lucky and could take a snap shot of the one day old baby.

Damn! I'm at school and you cant see the pics!! I'll look later :) It sounds cute!

wish we could keep them here in Aus, they are fantastic little things.

Great pics! Lars, are you able to own any exotic animal in Germany?

are they really the chinchillas that people make coats and stuff out of? no way, you'd need squillions of them just to make a sleeve! dear little things...congratulations on the new baby.

Thanks for the nice comments! :)

Wow, I didn't know that, it's a pity.

Lars, are you able to own any exotic animal in Germany?

You are able to get and own smaller exotic animals like racoons, mongooses etc.
if you have enough space for them and in some German states you need a permission
and a "general knowledge certificate" for keeping those animals.

But you're FORTUNATELY NOT able (almost nobody) to own dangerous animals like feline predators etc.

Yes, unfortunately they are those pets and they have an unbelievable soft fur.

And here are some pictures of other colour morphs.
Those babies are a few weeks old on these pics.
