OK... on behalf of Reptiles Australasia, sponsors of the 2011 Australian Hepetological Symposium to be held in Sydney on October 1&2... Mark Spataro will be coming from the States to deliver a talk on the rare, mysterious and little known Boelen's Python. This species, from New Guinea, is probably the rarest python in captivity at this point in time, seems not be bred with any consistency, but is a spectacular species indeed.

We will have more good news to announce in the next few days :)

Looks like after the "rehearsal" in Cairns last year, this is going to be a big one! It's not only what you hear in the presentations but the private talks with the guests over breakfast, lunch and dinner (not to mention drinks into the night) are invaluable. The social side of the Cairns symposium was fantastic and I am sure this one will be even better.

If you get the chance ask Mark where the majority of the Boelins are being spotted recently

From casual observation there might be a lot more in Papua [iryan jaya] than in New Guinea
Problem is that those mountains are not easy to access legally and the climate is wet wet and wetter
