I don't even think it's possible. We are only allowed to keep centralian and Western BTSs in WA. I don't know one person who owns one, and I couldn't find any breeders. I really want a BTS, but I don't know where to get one from or if I can even ever get one... But why don't much people own them? There aren't much care information on them either, I just research on the northern BTS as they are most well known. I just find it unfair for us WAs that we don't get much of a choice with our reptiles..

    thanks

Keep looking and you will find what you are looking for. I am sure you are allowed to import species of lizard so if you have a look on line and here in the market place you might find a breeder in NT or QLD etc. who has or will soon have some centralians you could have imported to you. Also have a look at some pet stores in your area to see what they can get in for you.

Search hard enough and they might just turn up everywhere :)

Centralian bts are probably our greatest looking species of bts, goldfield shingle backs are nice as well.

Keeping reptiles and frogs as pets has only been permitted in WA since 2003. The list of animals that can be kept as herpetofauna (pet reptiles and frogs) is slowly expanding. However the system is still quite rigid and I would advise that checkout the following to get an understanding of how it works. The 2002 and 2003 Regulations apply to reptiles and frogs...

When you say “I really want a BTS” are you referring to a specific species or any of the species? In WA at the moment you can only keep three Blue-tongued Skink (Tiliqua) species as pets – Western Blue-tongued Skink (T. occipitalis), Centralian Blue-tongued Skink (T. multifasciata) and the Bobtail (T. rugosa rugosa). The list is slowly expanding and it is hoped that Northern Blue-tongued Skink (T. scincoides intermedia) will become available in the not too distant future.

If you are just starting out in keeping reptiles or have very limited experience, a Centralian Blue-tongue is probably not a good choice as they require much more specialised husbandry than the other species of Tiliqua. The other species are most commonly available following the three month holding period for captive born offspring but you can still pick up specimens from a reputable dealer in WA, depending on the exact species you are chasing.

Sorry admin seems to have deleted my post. Seems a bit strange as I thought it answered the original post.

Reptilegirl there are a few around in WA, but I agree that the nature of our keepers system over here can make it difficult to find what you are looking for. Hopefully one day they will remove the silly rules around people breeding and selling their offspring directly, without going through dealers.

Anyway, without going into detail as I guess that is not allowed, I do breed western bluetongues and know of a couple of others who do in Perth. PM me if you want any more details.

Managed to get 5 babies from my girl last season.
Happen to be old enough for sale tomorrow

Care is really simple, hence they put it cat 2 on the most oppressive license system that has womas as 4.
If your interested talk to takers, really quite common and know a few that have some at the moment or have access to spots where they can. Im sure Dave could find you some if your interested, just dont expect to see them in pet shops or many collections. For some reason people think they are "boring" compared to Stimson so they are a slightly underrated species.
