Well....its come to my attention that this is a question that needs some discussion...
no arguments or debates
name calling or immature ways of expressing ones thoughts

just simply...
is there a disadvantage of either...is their a advantage of either

myself ...i will give TLC to any creature...from a worm....to a Tiger Snake(gotta love em!...& havnt had the pleasure yet!...but waiting)
that needs it...has worked for me
& have had 90% result in all my rescues...reptile or not

is it because some find i hard to empathize with a animal???
or is it for some easier to relate to animals ???

i wouldnt know how to make a poll...but its interesting to say the least!

:O you would breast feed a tiger snake??????

i think breast feeding is alright, so long as you know when to stop. when my beardy hit the big 12 months i said 'no, time to ween!'

give them plenty of TLC... is probably a better way of putting it...
some would rather have their reptiles in a display habitat...& treat them in the same manner...not me
yes display habitat(for some species)...but plenty of TLC...ala...BREAST FEEDING!

how do you make poll.... can someone do it for me...if ok with mods?

come on...this is related to the term coined by a member...hmm sorry ,must be not that memorable!
regarding to those who give cuddles & relate to their collection of reptiles in a manner more emotional....
than not

interested in views by members....does it harm the long term life span
is it in the better interest to give TLC to reptiles.....ala...Breast Feed or Not To Breast Feed?

bitty, i want Bitty!!!!!!!!!!!! BITTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't believe in going to either extreme....Some animals are just more self sufficient than others...My snakes I prefer to leave alone the majority of the time...Some of my other reptiles require daily care..ie feed, clean and misting...I don't "play"/"breastfeed" with my animals however sometimes I let my beardies roam the place and my frilly prefers to get out alot also, otherwise I guess I would say they are left to do what they do best (eat drink sleep poop and occassionally mate :p) The best thing about the hobby for me is knowing I have replicated their natural habitat and watching them thrive in it....

Some like it, some don't. My Bredlis like coming out and interacting with us, as does our Beardy but our Jungle  HATES us & we leave her alone except at cleaning etc. Our birds are different again. My sulphur loooves to climb up onto my lap for a cuddle, as does the Galah. Aragorn has a major problem... he thinks he is a lap dog, even though he can sit his bum on the couch while his feet touch the ground!!:p
Animals are feeling creatures, some need company while others don't. IMO some members just don't have the ability to really understand the animals......to figure out who needs what. Just treat them all the same...it's easier hey!

hahaha...ditto!

just wanted to know in basic.... do people just keep/feed/clean
or do they.......keep /feed/clean & cuddle??????????

Ever thought of just getting a dog that is 1) a pack animal and 2) responds to commands...

I think the main thing for your breast feeding is 1) does it require lots of TLC or just the essentials, 2) what benefits are the animals getting, 3) ado the animals require a 'pack' with an alpha leader or 4) is the animal generally found in solitary excpet for during certain seasons.

There's absolutely no reason to moddy coddle any reptile at all.

No reptiles are pack animals as such - though some, such as freshwater crocodiles will be found in large groups but they do not exhibit a community lifestyle.

Take for instance dogs - they require the attention because they're a pack animal that uses that society as part of their well-being.

Take for instance chameleons - they choose to be solitary because they don't require the community spirit.

You can love any animal as much as you want - but you're not doing any reptile any favours by smothering it or by playing with it all day long. Reptiles need long slow periods of down time to be healthy.

Cockatoos appear to like companionship - so much so that they become a one person bird more often than not.

Snakes do not.

CUDDLE :D
i had one of my spencers out with me for ages yesturday :)
i usually take her out with me when i am outside but yea i always have something out of its enclosure :)

i understand that, its not like its a dog that needs attention, but i do give my reptiles attention, but i also think that its important that people handle reptiles especially familys that have them because kids need to understand this type of animal, someone made a thread the other wk about kids being scared of them in a school when they were shown some reptiles, i personally think that if more people had handled reptiles before etc the less animals will be hurt and misunderstood by people

i see that some keepers have their reptiles more for show or display

my dragons are all able to be handled at appropriate times...
not when eating or brumating!

yes snakes are different...but more for their health reasons
its just plain stupid to cuddle a snake on feed day or day after...of co****!

That is not moddle coddling - there's no reason to have your reptile out every day at all! There's not even much of a reason to have a snake out any more than once a week!

And the kids can see them then!

My daughter knows this more than anything - she understands that as an animal the snakes prefer to be left alone - don't you think that is just as important to teach?
