Just interested to know how many of us here have broken up with a partner then got back together with them?

If so - What were the circumstances?
How long did it take for you to get back together?
What did you have to do to make it happen?

... and most of all, did it work out in the end? A couple of really good friends of mine have been in very long term relationships but have both broken up with their partners at least once and still made it work in the long run.. Was just curious as to how common this phenomenon was..

I used to be one of those people who firmly believed that the best thing to do after a break up is to sever all ties, and never ever look back - until recently

Anyone care to share? :p

you will quickly learn not to take relationship advice from a forum, particularly this one.

Best thing i ever did was NOT getting back with my ex.

donks

I split up with my husband last year for 2 months.

We eventually got back together and are happier now than ever before.

Well it's not advice I'm after, it's more like I'm curious to know about other people's experiences are when it comes to this issue.
I guess I just like observing and learning about/from other people, and forums are great for exactly that.

LOL I used to think the exact same way as you donkey!
... and Mrs l that's great to hear that things worked out between you and your hubby.. must have been a really tough two months though :(

some relationships just arent ment to be. my ex and i are the best friends when were apart. we have tryed manytimes to work things out, but after 2 weeks together we hate eachother. we love eachother but arent ment tobe together. i believe if you break up theres a reason behind it. so stay friends if you can or walk away and move on

blah blah blah blah ...... blah blah thats my thoughts on the subject ive had so many very wrong relation ships some id do again so i wouldnt i have only gotten back together with 2 girls and both times turned out to be mistakes. The most important thing to remeber is to learn from you mistakes and not to repete them with the same person or a different person. sombody who keeps making the same mistake is a moron.

I would like to get back with my partner but I just can't remember where I buried her:p:lol:

Yeah too right about learning from your mistakes! It's sad but there are lots of people who DON'T learn from their mistakes...
bahahah re what Prinze said..

My ex admitted to me some time back that we would probably have reunited if she hadn't fallen for an alleged friend who was sniffing around being "a good listener". In his defense he did eventually leave his wife, but his machinations definitely confused the situation. Without his interference we may have made the grade, but we'll never know.

That's ok, just pick a nice one and go with that... it's not cheating if you have to dig her up! ;)

my partner and i of 4 1/2 years together had lots of talks and decided that it was bets for our relationship is we seperated due to a number of reasons. that be our work mostly missing eachother diff hours and my ex the4 father of my kids being a ****.all this put stress in the relationship. in saying that we are still talking and he still comes over we are not cutting all ties as we hope things will work out we can be together again one day.
now as for the father of my kids hell no even when hell freezes over still no for him for what he has done and what he is doing still

Ugh... yeah I hear you on this JupiterCreek. Something quite similar happened to me a few years back and it wasn't nice. Especially if the other person involved is, as you say an "alleged" friend.
Anntay it really sounds like you and your ex are going about your situation really maturely. It's funny how there are some ex's with whom it's just so black and white that it's a definite "Run like hell and don't look back" LMAO!! Have had a couple of those myself :p

Hey thanks for sharing everyone!

yes,
a couple of months later
he dumped his gf and that made it happen.

and no. :p
lol

my partner and i broke up for about a month due 2 alot of stressful things going on at the time we decided after a month to hang out and play guitar hero as friends and a few months later he moved in with me and we havent looked back since

nope, to me there is a reason for breaking up ;)
My sister on the otherhand breaks up with her stupid bf every second day for nearly 2 years  She'll call bawling her eyes out one day only to be back with him the next - totally ridiculous imo

haha lozza sounds like a mate of mine.
He finds out his girlfriend is cheating on him, so he goes and does the same thing. Gets on the phone to her and tells her he 'done' her friend, then goes on to tell her how much of a deadbeat her and her family are and how they will never amount to nothing.

Then 2 days later he comes around my house with her snuggling and tickling and giggling each other like schoolkids again.
Makes me laugh.
