Well its a long time coming my mum has said yes to me getting my 1st snake !!!!! she does not like them AT ALL but she says i can have one under a few conditions

1. Do not try to make me feed/love/hold it
2. Keep it away from my dog !

lol easy! !! anyway back to my excitement i am going to get either a childrens or a stimsons but am looking towards Childrens

I was thinking of keeping it in a tub for awhile and then moving onto maybe a malamine square enclosure but thats all in the future ;P So i was just going to ask about feeding when i get my snake ill put up a chart or something to track feeds and sheds . Also i wanted to see some pictures of your snakes =D I am only allowed to keep the smaller snakes

GOD IM SOOOOOOO EXCITED haha

Get a spotted. Is it the only snake you can get? Go for a carpet if it is the only one your allowed?

Your on the right track a click clack is good for a hatchling, but maybe since its your first you might want to get something that is alright a very well established feeder and handler, not saying most hatchies arent, but you have a little more room for error in sub adult or adult snakes. Its a very good idea to put up a chart for feeding and shedding, most big breeders do this in a log book and give it to a person when they buy the snake just so they can get accustomed to the snakes feeding and shedding schedual, just to know when not to handle it!

P.s if you could tell me about the care a little bit (ive got my research there just curious at what other keepers do)

1st and last btw my mum can handle one and no more haha and it has to be pretty darn small like a childrens size is what my mum is alright with she doesnt really want something that could eat our dog haha and arnt carpets 4ft+ ?

some of the smaller pythons can get over 4ft aswell

Ok then. I am making a vid just for this type of stuff. 33 deggrees hot spot. 25 degrees is the temp of my cool sides. I use either Kitty Litter or Butchers paper for substrate. Get a Meium sized snake if it is your only one. Hide on hot end is a 10cm x 10cm strip of carboard for hot end and a mini hide of ebay for cool side.

Only big snakes will eat a dog, like olives and scrubbies and then probably if they are very hungry and are desperate, im not sure about carpets though. Spotteds could probably get to around 4 feet, but a childreni or stimson would probably stay under that, but not buy too much. Biggest difference is circumference, anatresia are alot less round than carpets

My son got a Children's as his first snake when he was 11 (he's 14 now) and he just loves it to death.
We chose an Antaresia because it was small. With hindsight, the Jungles that he has had for over a year would have also been perfect as first snakes. If you want smaller snake, a Stimson's has a little more colour/pattern than a Children's. Children's are kinda brown....
Also, when my son got his snake, I kept well away. I didn't mind him having it, just keep it away from me. Now he is up to snake number 5, and I don't mind them at all. They grow on you, and I find myself on this forum looking for the next one :) Just my two cents

Hah thanks =D well i dont mind about patterns i just like the look of the childrens and size of them im only getting one snake and im happy with a childrens i dont mind the slight patterns on some. I am VERY excited this is my last reptile until i move out haha But im soo happy my mum is letting me get a snake =D

Well if it happens to grow that long ill have to get a bigger enclosure ;P but all the books and all the research i have done points to them being rather small (3ft max) weill do azn

Here it is

Here is the cute little thing
