Just left someones house on the gold coast an she had a corn snake, about a yr old.... Told her she supports the black market and animal cruelty... she didn't like it. Why do you do about people like that?

I don't support it, but unless it's in poor conditions, how does that support animal cruelty?

The only way to get one in is to smuggle 1 in. Would you like to travel to another country in someones jocks or worse? We have so many great natives its a shame these foreigners keep popping up

Some people have no idea about the rules and regulations of owning reptiles. I have had complete idiots talk to me (thinking they are cool) and say that they are thinking about buying this and that off some1 they know. You can't rid the world of these people but we need to somehow get more awareness out there about this topic. Unfortunately then there are those losers who know about it and choose to get it anyway and keep it on the down low. Either way it is not legal.

Cos a lot that are shipped here illegally spend long hours in cramped lil boxes an a few often die:( It's all one big illegal syndicate and IMO f u support 1 u support all. It was in fine condition but thats not the point it was for her 5yr old. She could have got a children's. She just knew someone who knew someone and got it cheap.

They're bred in Australia and have been for so long. But I get where you're coming from.

Well if it survived the ordeal, only to be ratted out to the authorities, it's going to be euthanised, so it went through all of that for nothing. Pretty sad....

I do know its possible that this snake could have been from parents already in the country. Still the point of somewhere down the line some one got up to some seedy trouser snake stuff

I've just been having an interesting email to email chat with a woman in WA who is trying to sell me ball pythons, it got to the stage where she insisted she had cites permits that could be transferred to me, when I asked to see a copy of the permits and relevant legislation allowing the transfer I was told they would be shipped COD with all documents and assured it was legal, hmmm. My thoughts were it was a scam, not quite sure what she gets out of it though.

very dodgy. People like this are scum of society and ignorant fools if they don't know any better.

I'm sick of people on this site condemning snake smugglers. I smuggle a snake wherever I go, all day, every day.

Now that is a weird one, COD! But I don't think it's the CITES permits that would be the biggest issue hey ;)

Smuggled snakes don't go through quarantine. Although I don't like the idea of the corn being euthanised, I would rather that than our native snakes all catching something they have no resistance to and having a mass wildlife die off. They may also compete with another delicate Australian species' food, nesting etc....

If we don't buy hamburgers the shop will close.... don't support smuggling!

It's happy n healthy and I'm not going to report cos she looks after it well, and I'd rather it lives. I think it just reminded me of those Germans trying to smuggle native geckos from nz and things I've seen on border patrol where people try smuggle exotic pythons from other countries, it's true we have our own beautiful natives, some in it for the quick buck n only think of them selves....

They were probably going to get you to meet up in a place where no one could see the dodgy deeds happening and then jump you for all the cash you had for some ball pythons lol.

i would report it. These people need to learn a lesson
