lol, they are in a V70 ;).... yes I have heard of people having allergic reactions to them and needing a quick trip to the hospital... I have had them for a few years and only got my first "bite" a few weeks back, free handling much the same way as in stimigex's photo, one of the "tamer" ones just shifted it bottom jaw to the side and tried to hook me with a fang, sneaky sneaky style, dirty rotten things lol. ( no, I bled from one row of teeth marks but no vinegar in the wound)

Ahh, so you're my kinda guy, who has V70s in his lounge room ;) You must be doing well to have no bites from so many over a few years... apart from that sneak attack! Bet he was cursing his rear-fanged-ness right then :D A relief there was no envenomation.

A bite from these guys will effect every person differently, It can be nothing at all right through to a severe reaction requiring attention.
Now having said that i havent had a bite from these guys for over 5 years. They were real stress heads as tiny ones and had a nip every now and then.

This was my understanding stimigex... I suppose you just hope you aren't one of those people! :S When you got little nips off them as hatchies, was there ever any envenomation?

Very nice BTS everyone, JasonL- love the pics of those stunners!!

Here are some of mine, pics have been posted before, but why not

I have found mine to be fairly placid. Occasionally they swing off your hand with their mouth agape but its all good. The only time i have been bitten ( and it was a pretty good chew as well) was when i put it in the bath to remove some stuck shed and it got annoyed after a while lol. Don't know if the bath water helped but no reaction ( and i usually react to everything!).

There is an old thread on here with a guy that got tagged by one and he looked red all over from a reaction. I have also heard of a Kangaroo getting tagged ( i think that it was at the ARP? ) and it died within an hour. Don't let that put you off, they are great snakes to keep!

Wow... Amazing pics guys. Really need to get hold of one of these for myself!!!! If any one knows of any for sale. Feel free to pm me

They are evil , I have had most for the last 5 or so years and only have one that can be handled without trying to latch on , even babys I have bred are all evil :(

Just the one.... and it's real. I need to get it sexed.

D3pro, I love that snake! give it to me!!!!! ;)

Ill tempered and pissed because its fangs are in the back of its mouth...

mine can all be handled, one is cranky and you have a time limit and the others you just have to watch...

My larger pair out and about, a smaller female and a yearling eastern form BTS, have no doubt been used before, I really should get the missus to take some good quality photo's of them one day, Im useless with a camera.
What was said about food size is dead right - one of my adults will eat any size, but he's a big boy and a total gutz, the others will all check it out and measure it up, and if it's too big they don't want anything to do with it. Was feeding a female last night that knocked back one that was too large, then ate 4 that would have only weighed 8-10 grams less....

I've never actually had a one of the northern phase strike at me, the browns are full of attitude though . These are kept in the loungeroom as well, so cleaned every day just about. These snakes sure can produce some waste...

Some great pics guys! That patternless is really different.

Rednut, there's a real contrast in the looks of the two northerns in your first photo. Is this just natural variation, or something else? I imagine these guys might make a good display, if they weren't too shy.

Yeah mate, natural variation. I'm impressed with how clean the males markings are for his size (the darker maroon and white animal). This pair are pretty good, the male actually sleeps out in the open all day and never bothers to hide unless I disturb him when cleaning out, he just slides under his hide for the next half and hour or so. If he's asleep laying though his water bowel when I fill it up, he just sort of tenses and hisses then goes back to sleep, lol. The female sleeps under cover and comes out to hunt at night. Through my limited experience the younger ones are much more secretive but get bolder as they get bigger. They add a great bit of colour to the loungroom. There's a monitor tank above them with a few storrs and a bank of 3 tanks beside them with a few different nocturnal colours in it, all goes together well.

That patternless one is beaut, roughly how old? Could turn that into some very different little projects...
