I love reptiles too but at the same time not as naive to think that it doesn't happen
as i stated earlier in the thread you clearly don't love reptiles if you could sit there and watch that and participate in it just give up mate you have made a fool of yourself now theres no way of redeeming yourself in this thread

none of us here think that it doesn't happen it but to participate in it is what people are flaming you for and you deserve it , it is disgusting what you have done its that simple , now like i said give up

Yep, eating silverside is exactly the same as drinking cobra blood.

So you think they get released weekly if they aren't consumed?

Oh how it must feel living in blissful ignorance

Longqi rescues and released poor half mutilated snakes with (unfortunately) monotinous regularity. If he was not the decent guy he is, I am sure those idiots that sold you the cobra blood would buy as many retic and other reptiles to lable 'cobra blood' as they could get. But because he is a decent bloke, he does his best to release them away from civilization, or give them to real reptile parks who will look after them if they are too damaged. I am sure the people who bring longqi the injured snakes could eat them or sell them to the buttwipes you bought your cobra blood off too, but they obviously care/respect the reptiles enough to choose to bring them to Longqi.

How nice it feels to live in a world where some people STILL CARE

And Longqi, let's be honest. The locals don't eat it because they can't afford it not because of some great spiritual respect for nature or moral reasoning, you can quite clearly see that isn't the case with how they treat the environment in Bali.

I'm Indonesian, spent the first 24 years of my life there and I can tell you part of the reasons the locals don't eat it, as longqi said, is also because of growing awareness of animals rights and conservation status of certain animals. In the 60s my mom said you can buy live monkey in a restaurant, cut its head open and eat the brain straight from the skull but it's been illegal since the 1970s. When I was young in the late 1970s/early 80s, we could buy cobra jerky from a lot of supermarkets but people stop buying that as well so these days only few specialists sell them. The same with sea turtle eggs. They were daily staple when I was young, just like chicken eggs but the government has now made it illegal to collect and sell sea turtle eggs as food. Mom said they're still on sale in the black market but only a few supertitious people are willing to buy them (it's said to give them "inner strength" of some sort).

Yes, there are still A LOT of environmental problems to be addressed in Indonesia but I'm telling you there are a lot more local environmental organisation now than ever before and they are actively educating people about conservation, rehabilitation, sustainability and community development. But it's not an easy job. My diving club in university educated fishermen in West Java who used bomb to fish. They are very poor, and do you think they care about how long it takes for corals to re-grow when their young children haven't eaten in the last 3 days? So it's not enough to "educate", a lot of other problems need to be addressed. Alternative jobs or affordable fishing methods (ie. subsidise bigger & more modern boats for example) need to be created. It's the same story with reptiles, orang utan, tigers and a lot of other endangered animals in Indonesia. It's a slow progress but please have faith that progress is being made amid corruption that happens at the higher level of the government.

Anyways, follow my youtube channel as I will be going back over at the end of the year.

To everyone else, I'm quite bored of listening to self righteous, hypocritical BS so won't be reply or posting in this thread again. If you feel you have more to say to me by all means feel free to PM me.

*Yawn*

Batanga, this is not about the cobra, cultures, rituals, vegetarians, whatever, it's about YOU - you are different, very different. But you will never realise nor acknowledge it. Please stop upsetting people on this forum.
Teri-ma-kase.

You can't touch Batanga, he is tough guy. Now that he has drunken from the blood of cobra he is like steel, and his sexual prowess is at an ultimate highpoint. He now resides in a state of mind that cannot be touched by mere mortals and because of this he is king. All hail the king!!

The only problem he has now is that he has to constantly pleasure himself and treat himself like an amusement park. It's tough at the top.

So it's okay to do it to an animal if you don't like it or have no contact with them at all?
That's a little "pot calling the kettle black" wouldn't you say?

So it would seem you are another person who is giving their opinion when you probably haven't even been to the wildlife parks there?
If you think elephants who still have gaff marks in their legs or howler monkeys who are pulling their own fur out is more humane than a snake being killed within seconds then you have another thing coming. But as I said I bet you haven't been there and just giving an expert opinion from the sideline.

The kings in that place are all captive bred, not wild caught so they aren't taking them from the wild or helping in the decline of the species.

EVERY SINGLE ONE of those king cobras and every other snake they kill there was wild caught
So you most definitely did help accelerate their decline

If there was a true medical reason behind you needing to do this then fine
But if it was just to show off etc then please think more carefully before you act in future

Come back one day and I'll show you the real Indonesia

Dam gunna miss you.
Always impressed with a bloke who pays someone else to kill an animal for a photo shoot.

They are captive bred in Ubud....this I know for a fact as I was offered a tour for an extra $AUD50. The person who breeds them for Istana Raja Kobra and supplies to both the one in Denpasar and the Istana Raja Kobra on the mainland. I guess the snakes they also use which aren't found in Indonesia are wild caught to?

So you dont mind drinking the blood of captive bread snakes?

*Yawn* I thought you were going?

I don't mind replying to Longqi who obviously is one of the only ones who doesn't have his head in the sand in reference to this matter.

You can say as you please, I am not ashamed of eating reptiles. I have also eaten carpet python and monitor at an indigenous restaurant that I worked at.

I am also an avid fisherman and eat fish......you should probably stone me.

I have seen their facility and when you come back I can introduce you the snake hunters who supply the Indonesian snakes they kill
That facility couldnt and doesnt produce one hatchling each year for slaughter
The few ones they do produce are exported to Europe for the pet trade

Istana Raja Cobra in Java is supplied by 3 snake hunters from Surabaya. 2 from Banguwangi and Malang and 5 from Western Java near Bandung
Those same hunters also visit Bali at least 3 times each year and I will introduce you if you like

Believe this for this is FACT
Every snake they use is Wild Caught
Yes the others will be wild caught in Thailand Malaysia or India

I have eaten snake lizard and turtle too as I have travelled widely and sometimes had no option, but I would never go to a restaraunt to buy it
It was always at ceremonial dinners or corroborees etc

You got ripped off mate, I took the same tour for $AU10.

Come on, you really believe they employ someone in each of those countries to go out and catch them, prepare them for freight, pay for freight and then sell a completely processed snake for $60 US? I will give you a hint, the facility is close to Ubud market in a residential side street....he also owns a pet store in the area.

You got ripped off mate, I took the same tour for $AU10.

And then you woke up.

Keep digging fella... keep digging :lol::rolleyes:

Everyone with a brain knows you are just trying to start a big poo fight on here, maybe get a few people infractions and suspensions... whatever. Thats why the folks have been very tame with you... I think they have worked out you are just full of yourself.... mr big world traveller, you. I'm not quite sure if Longqi is on your side? I really dont think so ;) Your side is very, very one sided... yes, you are the only one....

But dont you realise, the damage you have done to yourself on here is way past repair by now? I suppose you could try saying someone else was using your computer and it wasnt you that said all that idiotic stuff? That might work.... maybe one or two folks on here might ever want anything to do with you again.....

So go, go eat as many reptiles as you see fit.... be a hero.... but prolly better if you do it elsewhere..... please  Karma would be if you choked on one :)

Ah no. I haven't been to the wildlife parks there because I wasn't sure what their standards were like and didn't want to support anything inhumane. When I said "see Bali's live reptiles", I meant with someone like Longqi. Until I read his posts, I had no idea there was enough habitat left in Bali for wild reptiles. If I ever visit again, I'd love to check it out. I also believe there's at least one decent reptile park there now.
