Hey guys

recently discovered the other day that my bredli's are aggresive all of a sudden. I've had them for about a year now and they've never had a go at me (almost got me on the eye!) even before and after feeding time. any info on why these guys are suddenly snap-happy would be greatly appreciated.
cheers!

is he about to go into shed? my darwin went all agro and bit me at a stage 2 days after that he shedded and was all placid again

nah they all had finished shedding 2-3 days b4. yea they get bad eyesight when they shed thats y i dnt go near them.i was thinking they could have been hungry but that didnt work or jst nt settled in yet. they should be good after a year tho aye?

They should be fine with you after a year, depending on the snake, it is normaly a week you let them settle in before feeding/holding etc. Have you changed anything in their environment? Temps, logs, hides etc etc. Are they housed together?
What size is the enclosure etc.
Sorry for the questions but all of them could be why they are snappy.

i've got 5 of them and where i got them from they where all in the same. Brought them home, put them all into a box, left them for a week to settle down.Didnt have to worry bout feeding they each smashed some 2 mice down each on the 2nd night and after about 3 weeks i was regularly handling them(without getting bit) about 8 months after i brought them home i went to get one out and it bit me. kinda shocked thinking it didnt i stuck my hand in there again.and it bit me.again. figured out that they were all biting so i seperated them thinking that i'd work on them one by one and they'd gradually start to tame down.one has(kinda) but the rest are worst! the way they carry on tryin to get at me you'd mistake them for a taipan( cept for the markings). i dont have a thermostat in my tanks yet so i dunno with temps, havent changed anything else and atm there in 20lt plastic containers with running under the back of the tubs

U dont know what the temps r?? and u were housing them all together?? Sounds like u really wern't prepared to obtain these trophy snakes....sounds like you got it all wrong and the snakes r uncomfortable hence there BITING...recon it may be to warm but who knows if u dont even have a clue of the temps!!!!!.....DUCK here we gooooooo

do they actually bite and hang on; or do they just try to scare you by hitting you with their mouth open

bite and wrap or hang on means they are hungry
open mouth means they are scared

separate, sort temps out, happy snakes

doesnt matter what you do about separating or temperature if they are hungry
they could be in the ritziest viv on earth but still bite if they dont get enough tucker

thats why the type of bite is so important to know in every case like this

yea i separated them the first couple of bites they were hungry ones but now there scared bites. i've got heat cord that runs under the back of there tubs.As for u ozimid instead of bein a ****in try hard and rightin me off think about wat u want to say before u put it on the computer ya ****in facebook troll.

What i would do is get a thermostat (well 5 of them in ur case) as soon as possible, in the mean time u could use a thermometer to monitor the temps and to make sure their not getting too high, maybe just leave them alone for a week and see how they go, since they've been seperated their not used to their new environment and may also be stressed.

I've got 16 various snakes(pythons) and none of them have thermostats or thermometers, everyone i've talked to reckon that i would only need them if i'm breeding.true?false? and i separated them about 4 months ago. i've managed to tame one of them down by constant handling (got bitten more than my fair share)but the others are still snappy but lately i've been flatout with work so all my hardwork is probably screwed. how much is a thermometer-stat?

Wow 16 without any way of monitoring or regulating there temps? How do you know you are not under or overheating your snakes. Instead of spending your money on more animals, why don't you start spending your money on equipment to properly keep them.

mate even with the thermostats i've got heat mats and heat cord that apparently keep it a warm temperature for them and they've got cool spots thro their tanks. year and half now without losing any and one of them didnt even have a heat mat till 2 months ago.

Some can go a long time in less then ideal conditions. Soon enough if the temps are off by to much they will eventually succumb to stress.

True or false? False! So so so false. I dunno who you spoke to but I'd say they're wrong. Thermostats and thermometers are a must. You need to be able to monitor and control temps. If the temps aren't right this could be a pretty good reason for upset animals.

Dont keep anything...problem sorted;)...Not being a smart **** but there r people her asking u y? and trying to help...so u might wana listen and change a few things aroung yur snakies:?

hahahaha JrFear actually i have 20 freshwater tropical fish and they are so much easier to look after. but i am leaning towards a pet rock....

how can u tell if a snake is stressed? cuz the only snakes that go me are the bredli, all the others are real mellow. and if i did get a thermometer how would i change the temp on a heat mat or cord?

Each enclosure requires its own thermostat and with that many snakes it's guna break the bank
Cheers
