What does thermoregulate mean? sorry if that's a stupid question i'm just not sure.

It means regulate body temperature when used in reference to reptiles.

Snakes thermoregulate in there habit by useing what is around them. If they need to cool down then they will either look for shelter ie. hollow log or use shade, if they need to warm up then they will use rocks and other things that hold heat.
