i wouldn't feed wild caught mice (better safe than sorry) and i think the only prob with day old chicks is that the yolk tends to squish out everywhere when they are constricted... can get a bit messy :?

Ive been feeding my MD day-olds for the past year and never once had the yolk squish out. He's healthy, and their really cheap. How could hormones effect a snake?

From what i have heard is that the problems usually come during breeding. This has never happened to me because i do not feed day old chicks, but the hormones can cause females to slug out when they lay. ie. their clutches are infertile.
