We live in Brisbane and have a one year old Atherton carpet python. We built an enclosure (850L X 600W x 900H) is ply with peg board back and hinged glass front door. The floor size was based on the folded out local newspaper.

Single heat source through winter has been a 100w night blue bulb (herpshop) fand am thinking that a ceramic 60w would be a good option. I have been using a probe thermostat placed at the back and when the air/ground temp gets to about 28 degrees (basking spot temp 32) it turns off but temps have to drop to about 24 for it to turn on again.

What do other Atherton/Jungle owners use/recommend? Stick with the single heat source (he dosen't spend a lot of time on the ground! ) I have read posts by True Blue and others and have tried 40w bulbs but temps drop off dramatically over night.

as long as the snake has a spot where it can bask a couple of inches from the bulb a 40 or 25 watt will be fine.
