ok guys so i own 1 eastern bearded dragon and 2 henrylawsoni. Lately i've realised that their toenails are rather long and almost seem to curl under foot. Could this cause discomfort??
Also, should i be trimming them back or, if need be, take them to a vet??
Cheers
Aaron

Probably best to check with a vet or someone experienced in such procedures to make sure you know the best method and how much to trim off though before you start going at it yourself.

There is a fine vein (wick) that runs down the toe nail and grows as the nail does, if cut it will bleed, if the nail is grown too long it will have to be cut and I would recommend you see a vet about how to do this if you have not done it before. To prevent nails from growing keep rocks and rough tiles in your enclosure to help them wear them down in a more natural fashion.

long nails can and will twist their fingers
not a beardie but i personally trimmed my blueys nails with a dog nail cutter (very carefully of course, only little snips at a time, their vein being quite visible helps as well)
on a side note do you have any rock slabs or hardwood in the enclosure? sometimes that helps trim their nails naturally via friction like a file

Wasn't all that long ago I posted in a thread about cutting beardies claws... Try the "search" facility on this site - very handy little tool that! :)
