bloody awsome animal, you gota love the bells. very cool, unfortunatly i havent been lucky enough to actually see a bells in the flesh.

Generalisations are always dangerous.

The banded (Bells) phase appears to occur mostly in the inland, western and dry parts of the V. varius range.



:?: I wonder why the broad banded phase occurs mostly in dry areas.

:idea: Perhaps because the coastal form has more black on it, which gets too hot out west.
:idea: Might also have something to do with camouflage, the blacker lacier coastal pattern blending in better in heavily forested areas.
