Can I sandwich heat cord between polyurethane fake rock and a slate tile?

I've used some URS fake rock background in my new snake tank and have quite a bit left over. In the interests of using it up I thought I might use it to make a shelf/hide for the area empty on the right in the picture. I'm wondering if I can use a slate tile as the 'ceiling' of the hide and then use some of the fake rock on top with the heat cord in the middle. The rock is made of a dark grey polyurethane foam, similiar consistency to yellow expanda foam.

Not sure how it will work (as in safety), but its a really good idea.
